One of the biggest questions I feel I need to tackle from the start point is ‘who?’ I had initially thought I would carry out research on students however, I have shifted my thinking more towards gathering data/information/responses from colleagues and/or staff at UAL. After Workshop 1 I am clearer on why my research could be important for both staff and students, as this is woven into the unit brief; ie. to enhance student experience.

I need to narrow it down to focus on elements that are core to my beliefs and values as an educator. Ethical considerations remain central in terms of remaining respectful of my positionality and that of my chosen participants.

The research cycle is a useful way to think about making a start, at any point within the cycle. I now need to make decisions on whom I want to reach through my research and what methodology will form the framework of my project. Reading theory, speaking with peers and tutors will inform my process going forwards…
